US court again denies Zhao Changpeng's request to leave the UAE
A US court has denied former Binance CEO Zhao Changpeng's request to leave the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to CNBC. According to documents released on Dec. 24 (local time), Zhao's lawyers asked the court on Dec. 22 last year to "grant permission to leave the country for Abu Dhabi for one to four weeks beginning Jan. 4. The reason for the request is due to a family member's hospitalization and surgery." In this regard, cryptocurrency media WhaleWire reported, "This is the fourth time Zhao Changpeng has requested to leave the UAE before sentencing. To assure the court of his return, he offered to pledge his entire stake in Binance US as collateral, which he claims is worth over $4.5 billion." Meanwhile, the U.S. court denied Zhao's request on December 29 last year. The US court had previously denied Zhao's request to leave the UAE on November 28 last year, citing fear of absconding.
