US Government Held Crypto Assets Moved!
About $1 billion worth of bitcoin was transferred to anonymous addresses from two crypto wallets holding funds seized by the U.S. government in connection with the Bitfinex hack. The transfers took place over four transactions two hours ago, and the purpose of the transactions was not disclosed. The U.S. government's other holdings related to the Bitfinex hacker funds are approximately 94,600 Bitcoins, valued at $5.79 billion.
Meanwhile, El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele told X that "El Salvador will not sell Bitcoin. This was true in the past when prices were low, and it is true now." "When the BTC price was low, there were thousands of reports that we would end up losing money. If you sell your current holdings as the price of BTC rises, you can make 40% or more. But 1 BTC is 1 BTC. It's telling that the analysts, pundits, and journalists who were predicting losses (when prices were low) are now completely silent." According to Nayibtracker data, El Salvador holds 2,847 BTC.
