US Department of Justice gives notice to sell $1.3 billion BTC seized from Silk Road Agent
"The US Department of Justice has filed a notice to sell $1.3 billion in bitcoin seized from dark web marketplace Silk Road Agency," reports X Account db, which specializes in cryptocurrency news.
"The Department of Justice seized 2,874,904256 BTC (approximately $129,251,164.54) from dark web drug dealers Ryan Farace and Sean Bridges on February 10, 2021 in Memphis, Tennessee, and 58.742155166 BTC (approximately $3,304,833.65) from Ryan Farace on May 11, 2021 in Arlington, Virginia. The Government hereby gives notice of its intention to dispose of the forfeited property, subject to the approval of the Attorney General. To claim ownership of the forfeited property, you must file a petition within 60 days of the date this notice is first posted on the website (January 10, 2024). The petition must be signed by the petitioner under penalty of perjury and set forth the petitioner's right, title, and interest in the forfeited property, the circumstances under which and when the forfeited property was acquired, and any additional facts supporting the claim for return. If the petition is not filed and the time limit expires, the U.S. Government retains title to the property and may secure title to a future purchaser or transferee."
