SEC Chairman “Will Continue to Work on Changes to Exchange Definition

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler appeared at a market conference and said the agency will “continue to work on revisions to the definition of exchange and alternative trading systems.” He did not directly mention cryptocurrencies or DeFi in his presentation. The SEC has previously stated that “many of the platforms that trade crypto assets call themselves ‘exchanges,’ which may give investors the false impression that they are registered with the SEC.”
