Crypto-Harris first meeting sparks accusations, shouting matches

"The first-ever roundtable meeting between crypto figures and U.S. Vice Presidential candidate Carmela Harris' campaign reportedly got pretty ugly, with accusations and shouting matches," Fox Business reported, citing sources. "The meeting was organized to bridge the deep rift between the current administration and the crypto industry, but it reportedly turned out to be quite ugly.

First of all, crypto figures criticized the White House for pushing anti-crypto policies. They were outspoken about how damaging the White House's crypto policies have been to the industry and the Democratic Party. Harris was practically shouted down by the attendees, especially after the former Treasury secretary said that "banks and regulators have no intention of separating the crypto industry from traditional finance. Crypto figures countered that most crypto companies have been denied banking services as a result of the White House's policies." Earlier, Bloomberg reported, "The first meeting between the crypto industry and Mr. Harris was reportedly fruitless. Industry figures voiced policy frustrations, but Harris did not promise any changes," Bloomberg reported.

"The first roundtable meeting between crypto industry leaders and the Carmela Harris camp reportedly ended without much success," Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The industry voiced policy complaints, but Harris' camp did not promise any changes," the report added.

Coinbase CLO Paul Grewal explained, "We've had several conversations with the Harris camp over the past two weeks, but it's been difficult to come to terms with their differences." The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reid, National Economic Advisor Rael Brainard, California Congresswoman Ro Khanna, and Christine Lucius, senior advisor and director of legislative affairs to the vice president.
