The index shows extreme fear in the market when it is close to 0, and extreme optimism when it is close to 100. The Fear and Greed Index is calculated based on volatility (25%), trading volume (25%), social media mentions (15%), surveys (15%), Bitcoin market cap share (10%), and Google search volume (10%).
Meanwhile, according to Deribit, a cryptocurrency options exchange, $1.93 billion worth of Bitcoin options will expire on January 3 at 5:19 p.m. The put/call ratio is 0.69 and the max pain price is $97,000. At the same time, $700 million worth of Ethereum options will also expire. The put/call ratio is 0.82, and the max pain price is $3,400.
