Bitcoin Halving D-1
Bitcoin is about 24 hours and 150 blocks away from its halving. At the current rate of block generation, it is expected to reach 840,000 blocks, the block height at which the halving occurs at 0:22 am UTC on April 20th. The average time to generate a new block on the Bitcoin network is about 10 minutes. After this halving, Bitcoin's block mining reward will decrease from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC.
Amidst the debate over the halving, Anthony Scaramucci, founder of New York-based hedge fund SkyBridge Capital, said in an interview, "If you look back over the last 15 years, the price of Bitcoin has surged 3-4 times in the months following a halving. I think we're going to see Bitcoin go to $17-20K after this halving," he predicted.
"No one has lost money on Bitcoin in the last four years," he continued, "Bitcoin is still in its infancy in terms of adoption. It's similar to the early days of the internet around 1999. As Bitcoin matures as an asset class and the regulatory environment improves further, it will surpass gold's market capitalization in the next few years."
